Working with Acorn
Yes. We handle every stage from start to finish: planning the work with you, ordering the materials, carrying out the job and completing it to a standard you're happy with. You have one point of contact throughout.
Acorn is owner-run. Phillip carries out or directly oversees the work, so the person quoting is the person doing the job.
Electrical work from fitting plugs to full rewires, landlord reports, kitchen installations and repairs, bathrooms, decorating, carpentry, outdoor buildings, fencing and gates, and general repairs.
Yes. If you have a list of smaller jobs, tell us everything on it and we'll plan to clear as much as possible in one visit.
Yes, and that's usually the reason people call us. One team handles the wiring, the fitting and the finishing, so there's no waiting on another contractor.
No. Acorn specialises in domestic and residential property. That focus is deliberate, and it's what we're set up to do well.
We're based in Hassingham and cover Norwich, Broadland and south Norfolk. If you're slightly outside that, call and ask.
Quotes, costs and payment
No. Quotes are free, and there's no obligation attached to one.
Yes. We can source and order everything the job needs and arrange deliveries, so you don't have to chase suppliers. If you've already chosen your own units, fittings or paint, we're happy to work with those instead.
For projects over £500 we take a 50% deposit once you've accepted the quote, with the balance due on completion. Smaller jobs are settled on completion.
The quoted scope is the quoted price. If something genuinely unforeseen appears behind a wall, we stop, explain it and agree the cost before continuing.
Yes, all work is guaranteed, and electrical work is tested and certified to current regulations.
Electrical work and landlord reports
Phillip is Part P and 18th Edition qualified, and the business is fully licensed and insured.
Yes. We carry out the Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) landlords need, explain the findings in plain English and quote any remedial work separately.
Yes, from fitting a plug or an extra socket through to consumer unit upgrades and full or partial rewires, all tested and certified.
Yes. Electrical work is tested on completion and you receive the appropriate certification for the work carried out.
A circuit that trips repeatedly is telling you something. Stop resetting it and call us; persistent tripping is usually a fault that needs finding rather than an inconvenience to work around.
General guidance is at least every ten years for an owner-occupied home and every five years for rented property, plus whenever you buy or plan major work.

Either. We can order everything for you or fit a kitchen or bathroom you've bought yourself. Where off-the-shelf units won't fit, we can also build bespoke cabinetry.
Yes. Doors, hinges, drawer runners, worktops and sinks can all be repaired or replaced without a full refit.
Yes. We prepare and paint walls, ceilings and woodwork, and we often decorate at the end of a job so the room is genuinely finished when we leave.
It depends entirely on the scope and the property. We give a realistic sequence and timescale with the quote rather than an optimistic number to win the job.
Real building work makes dust, but it's managed. Floors and surrounding rooms are protected and the site is tidied at the end of each day.
Almost always. We'll agree in advance what will and won't be usable at each stage so you can plan around it.

Yes. We install new fencing, repair existing fences, replace wobbly or rotten gate posts and hang gates so they swing and latch properly.
Yes. We build the structure and, because the electrics are ours too, run a properly protected and certified supply for lighting and sockets.
Often, yes. Replacing a post, a few boards or a section of cladding is far cheaper than starting again, and we'll give you an honest view on what's worth doing.
